What Moves Me

Cailey Brandon

Comprehensively Certified Pilates Instructor, NCPT, SmartSpine™ Practitioner & NeuroMuscular Reprogramming II

B.S. , M.S. , University Texas - Dallas

Cailey is a graduate from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelors in Cognitive Psychology and a Masters in Applied Cognition and Neuroscience. Cailey danced pre-professionally as a ballerina and experienced the benefits of Pilates first through cross-training for demanding rehearsal schedules. She trained with hypermobility specialist, Jennifer Milner, and experienced firsthand how injuries left dancers managing a less-than-ideal quality of life. She found her passion for Pilates as a healing mechanism shortly after being diagnosed with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) and POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome).

Cailey is a Comprehensively Certified Pilates Instructor and NCPT. She is also certified in SmartSpine™, NeuroMuscular Reprogramming II and has completed a 10-day intensive cadaver dissection. She has taught and authored her own original workshops, including Minds in Motion, a comprehensive approach to neurological paradigms for movement practitioners. Anatomy for Dancers, and VERB, a movement workshop for those with Parkinson’s and MS.

Cailey attends several continuing education conferences each year to further enhance her movement practice and to become more educated on the most up-to-date research related to neurology, physical therapy and movement science. She truly believes in nurturing the mind-body connection and that movement has the ability to change lives.

About the Name:

The name “verb.” is a term of endearment for the body, and all it has to offer. It is often used to describe an action, occurrence, or state of being. We are often at the risk of feeling enslaved by our symptoms. Pain, numbness, and injury can often feel like they rule our lives. As we wake to exceptionally difficult days, it’s hard to imagine making any moves at all. And yet, your blood spirals through each capillary, twirling life perpetually inside of each vein. Your lungs inflate like a bellow preparing to reignite a flame. Your brain is rapidly encoding the details of your environment, sending millions of electrical impulses down your spinal cord every second. Everything within you moves. You were made to move.

I have been working with Cailey for over a year.  She has been instrumental in my return to exercise!  I was unable to move much for several years before I saw her due to back injuries and a connective tissue disorder.  I have seen many practitioners over the years, and Cailey’s knowledge of the body is unmatched.  Because of this, she is able to safely work with me so that I can continue to progress, even when I am in a flare. I highly recommend Cailey for anyone looking to gain movement in a safe and supportive environment!

I was introduced to Pilates through PT for scoliosis. The owners decided to retire and I needed a place that could help with back pain and continue with Pilates. Thats when I found Cailey, and I’m  glad I did! Cailey uses SmartSpine, which helps my spine and muscles move better. When I was 17,  I developed neck and upper back arthritis, which made my scoliosis worse. I stopped ballet and exercise because it hurt too much. Later, I discovered I also have several herniations and have missing disc space along my spine. Working with Cailey I have strengthened my back, core and pelvic floor. It is such a relief Cailey has extensive knowledge of the body and answers to all of my questions.  She also helped me with an exercise program for my osteoporosis. She keeps me doing that things I love to do.

Cailey is an excellent pilates instructor - she is highly skilled, very knowledgeable and attentive to both my husband's and my physical needs. She always finds the areas that need help and addresses them with care and offers great advice regarding her observations. We love working with her and both see tremendous benefit from our private sessions.
