Healing through movement
Why Pilates?
Pilates is a system of exercises that can transform the efficiency and satisfaction of everyday life. While Pilates is a movement practice, it also enhances cognition, which can decrease symptoms of chronic depression and anxiety. Pilates can help you rehabilitate from injury or surgery while preventing future injuries as well. Verb. offers a holistic approach by bridging the gap between physical therapy and the Pilates method. We specialize in neurological health and whole-body wellness, nurturing the mind-body connection through tailored sessions.
1
Improve Motor Control
Mindful movement practices strengthen neural connections to improve coordination, balance, and body awareness.
2
Manage Pain
Alleviate pressure on your joints and soft tissue by increasing core strength, flexibility, and proper body alignment,
3
Enhance Cognition
Neural pathways are stimulated through controlled movements and breathwork, facilitating the mind-body connection.
What is SmartSpine™?
Administering immediate sensory feedback, the SmartSpine™ system eases mechanical challenges in the spine and helps correct postural deficits, even enabling those with scoliosis to transform their curve. Manual use of the SmartSpine™ materials by a certified practitioner can untangle fascia, restore the kinetic chain of movement and increase sensorimotor function in the ‘dead zones’ of scar tissue. The SmartSpine™ materials were created by Marie-José, a world-renowned master Pilates teacher. The system works with the body’s thermoreceptors, interoceptors, and proprioceptors and is designed to allow the body to settle in to it’s most productive positioning. After softening the fascia and stimulating neural pathways, SmartSpine™ aligns the body and prepares it for movement therapy. The pieces can be warmed to enable the parasympathetic nervous system, the only state in which our bodies can heal, to rebalance muscles and improve mobility. SmartSpine™ can be utilized during Pilates or Yoga, however, any mind-body practice may benefit from the addition of its use.
What is NMR?
NeuroMuscular Reprogramming (NMR) uses muscle testing to determine specific areas of dysfunction to reduce chronic pain, misalignment and degeneration. NMR reorganizes the connection between your body and mind, improving coordination and balance while decreasing pain and tension. It is especially useful for those with neurological or autonomic disorders, such as MS, Parkinson’s, brain injury, POTS and more. It helps strengthen the neurological pathways that improve motor function. It is also a great tool for highly active individuals, athletes, and dancers, while it can prevent injury, and improve overall performance.
“NMR works with the body’s organizational intelligence to reprogram the patterns governing coordinated movement” -Jocelyn Olivier
